A big part of progressing in our careers is getting the chance to learn new skills, take on new roles, and work on new projects. Two great examples of this are David Lewis and Kian John, who have recently stepped into new roles here at Creditsafe.
Their stories reflect a common part of being here; the chance to move horizontally and vertically into new roles and opportunities! Get to know them below and how they’re finding their new roles so far.
David Lewis’s path to Creditsafe is quite an interesting one. Before joining the company, David worked in various roles at universities and educational consultancies. “I’ve done almost every job in IT,” David says. “But my recent roles were about managing data products, which made me a good fit for Global Monitoring at Creditsafe”.
He was looking for something different and more local, and Creditsafe seemed to fit like a glove. Next thing you know, David joined a growing product team at an exciting time and has stuck around since!
In his new role as Technical Product Owner, David focuses on the services that support products like Search and Match, Data Studio, and Data Cleaning. “I’m only about three weeks in, so there’s still a lot to learn, and there are many moving parts,” David explains.
Right now, he’s making sure all Match services are ready for the Data Studio launch in September and working on a new Matching service. This new service promises better control, updates, and scalability to support Data Studio.
David’s experience at Creditsafe has been very positive. He loves the large, diverse team and the company’s startup-like vibe. “There’s always a ‘buzz’ in the company, and the scale and pace we operate at is impressive,” he says. The supportive and collaborative culture at Creditsafe has made his three and a half years with the company fulfilling and exciting.
Kian John’s career progression at Creditsafe is equally inspiring. As a true data-head with a background in data and a postgraduate degree in Data Science, Kian is passionate about using the latest tools and tactics to get insights from our data-rich world.
Before joining Creditsafe, he worked at Track and Trace, where data-driven decision-making was his bread and butter. “Moving to Creditsafe was an easy decision, as the company recognises data as a key driver for decision-making and innovation,” Kian explains. Creditsafe provided him with the perfect opportunity to grow his expertise while contributing to meaningful projects.
In his new role within the brand-new Identity Resolution team, Kian is focused on introducing the latest and greatest methods to complex data-systems. “I’ll be drawing on the niche knowledge I built during my time in the data department to tackle some of Creditsafe’s most interesting challenges,” Kian says. His goal is to unlock the potential that tech and good thinking can offer to help businesses make smarter and safer decisions.
Kian enjoys the balance of challenging technical work and a supportive team environment at Creditsafe. “The collaborative culture at Creditsafe—everyone is open to sharing ideas, and there’s a real focus on innovation and learning,” he notes. Working in an environment where data is a key measure of impact has been a rewarding experience for Kian.
David and Kian’s stories are just two examples of the many career progression journeys at Creditsafe. Many of our C-suite directors have developed and grown with the company since the start, and there’s plenty of emerging opportunities to do something new here.
A big part of it all is having a genuinely collaborative and inclusive workplace. Both David and Kian spoke of the importance of teamwork and the positive company culture in their career progression. “You don’t hear people saying ‘you can’t do that,’ or ‘we tried that before’, David says. “It’s more likely to be ‘that’s a good idea’ or ‘how can I help?”.
